My FRIENDS Swap arrives!

Guess who knocked on my door at 2pm today? The parcel delivery man - with my FRIENDS Swap box of goodies from my Swap partner, Melissa who lives in the State of New York, in the USA.
YAY!!! I was soooo excited, it was like Christmas (except I was home alone.....well apart from my 2 little toy poodles, who were quite excited about a visitor to the front door too!!)
Well, here we go....thankfully I paused long enough to take photos of everything as I unloaded the box, and then unwrapped everything.
I really wanted to savour the moment, as everything was wrapped up so beautifully in lovely tissue paper in my favourite colours: PINK, PINK and more PINK!!
So, here we start off with the BOX (after I had torn the brown wrapping paper off first!)

So, after carefully taking out each parcel, which was beautifully wrapped in pretty tissue paper, I opened the first parcel, and I actually did a quick intake of breath "Gasp!"
Beautiful fabrics from my very FAVOURITE shop Shabby Fabrics - a gorgeous range of beautiful fat quarters in pretty, pretty pinks. Then the next parcel ..... and I found a beautiful vintage linen doily with handpainted bees on it - just gorgeous! It has original art on it by Michelle L. Palmer and it is called "Bumble Bee Dance". Melissa obviously remembered that I love little bees, and I have a collection of various bee items.
The next item is a little matching Paper Clay Charm that matches the little bee doily, by Michelle Palmer too.

The next parcel - absolutely beautiful note cards with envelopes with pretty pink roses, and my initial on the front "S" - sooo pretty.

Next, a book by Jennifer Chiaverini called "The Quilter's Apprentice" - I have never read any of her books, and I have always wanted to, so this will be the first of many I think. On to the next parcel, and I see a lovely range of eight Lecien Cosmo needlework threads in pretty colours.
The final parcel was a beautiful PINK mug, which is just gorgeous. Oh, also Melissa had made me a beautiful little gift tag saying "Friend to Friend" with loads of ribbons, very pretty.

Everything looks SO PRETTY!! It really brightened my day. I had a sad day yesterday going to the Nursing Home where I have managed to get my Dad in (my Mum has been in this same Nursing Home for about 3 years) - Dad doesnt have too much longer to live, and all he wanted was to go into the same Nursing Home as Mum, and Praise God! When I rang them while Dad was in hospital, lo and behold, a bed had just become available in a men's share room. So my sister had come down to South Australia from Queensland to see Dad, and we had to say "Goodbye" to each other out the front of the Nursing Home late yesterday, and it was pouring with rain, and we were both crying. We both realised that the next time we see each other could possibly be when she comes down for Dad's funeral. So today I have felt quite sad and lethargic. So I thankyou Lord that this lovely parcel from my friend Melissa arrived today of all days.
This last photo I took sitting in my comfy loungeroom chair with all my goodies on my lap. I just wanted to touch the fabric (quilter's know what I mean, it needs to be stroked, and touched gently....doesnt it?)
Melissa included a lovely Debbie Mumm (another favourite of mine) card telling me that the F is for Fat Quarters, R is for reading the book, I is for individual handmade gift, E is for eight pretty threads, N is for Notecards, D is for Doily and S is for Something special to drink my tea and hot chocolate out of. Melissa also wrote a beautiful note to me about the friendship we now share.
Thankyou so very much Melissa, you have really brightened my day!
Thankyou also to Khris of Sew Prim Khris for organising the FRIENDS Swap in the first place. It has been so much fun, I have loved shopping and making things for Melissa and I cant wait for her to receive her box of goodies too.

  5. I'm glad you liked everything. I had so much fun picking them out. It seems like god was watching and made sure it arrived at just the right moment. I guess that one of the reason's I had a run of bad luck. I was able to post the package so it would arrive to bring a smile to your face.
